Sowing Doubt

Because everything deserves criticism.

LMFAO.

Okay wait… I know Chris Hedges wrote an article criticizing “black bloc” tactics, but where does Derrick Jensen fall into this mix?

Derrick was quoted in the article at length.
I mean, to a certain extent the article makes some good points. We need a serious, well-trained and-disciplined underground organization to make direct attacks on infrastructure on a continental scale. That’s where the really sacrifice and risk comes in. Anyone smashing windows or being nonviolent in safe occupy spaces aren’t going to be effective unless everyone escalates. We need to shut down industrial civilization or take it down.
Maybe this could happen with spell check and without ageism too.

I think this is kind of bogus. Hedges deserves this, but Jensen does not. He gave them more of a critique than a finger wagging. Except it. The black bloc should act specifically outside the peaceful rallies. It’s fine to join the crowd again once the action has been completed, but do not launch attacks from the heart of the mob.

“I don’t have a problem with escalating tactics to some sort of militant resistance if it is appropriate morally, strategically and tactically,” Jensen continued. “This is true if one is going to pick up a sign, a rock or a gun. But you need to have thought it through. The Black Bloc spends more time attempting to destroy movements than they do attacking those in power. They hate the left more than they hate capitalists.
“I have no problem with someone violating boundaries [when] that violation is the smart, appropriate thing to do. I have a huge problem with people violating boundaries for the sake of violating boundaries. It is a lot easier to pick up a rock and throw it through the nearest window than it is to organize, or at least figure out which window you should throw a rock through if you are going to throw a rock. A lot of it is laziness.”
