What will the world do for Syria?
This is so completely ignorant. Rwanda and Libya are vastly different situations. Gaddafi was a rotten figure for a lot of reasons but certainly is not guilty of an evil, let a lone genocide, on par with what happened in Rwanda. There are greater reasons Libya was chosen for interference; these reasons did not exist for Rwandan intervention. That our imperialist goals are the deciding factor in when and where we intervene “for humanity’s sake” is the real tragedy here.
Back in high school social justice class my friend Alex brought a comparison between the civil rights movement and our “freeing” of the peoples of Iraq. This fallacious comparison turned a lot of heads and was met with positivity even though it did little more than parrot the conservative view. By capitalizing on a deep seeded emotional guilt, the argument seemed more valid. It’s like comparing yourself to Rosa Parks, you end up looking like an asshole, exploiting other people’s legitimate struggles with oppression for advancement of your own aims.
The Libyans did not ask for, need, or appreciate foreign interference.
The main thrust of my objection was your using Rwanda in comparison with Libya specifically. What’s happening in Syria...

The world will not do anything for Syria because the majority of the world does not care.
i’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.
